Appraise Based On Books Bilangan Fu (Bilangan Fu #1)

My hubby complains about its number of pages, but I love it! The Indonesian younger generation, who get politically conscious (grin) after the 1998 reform, can learn more about Indonesian democratic transition and consolidation from this book. I hate that Ayu made someone killed. But that was what happened in those years. Good young people were murdered. Even worst, it was extrajudicial.

So far, I don't like the vulgarity that brought by Ayu Utami in most of her novels. But anyway, I start to enjoy the story after I read about 70 pages. The story itself not Bilangan Fu - centered. Eventhough Bilangan Fu become the reason of the relation among the cast, but the emphaize of the novel is about the relationship it self and the modernity vs nature vs culture.

It was the first Ayu Utami's book that I read. It has lots of opinion about lots of things. It contents critics about nature, authority, dumb fanatism, and so many other things. It fills you up with so many things. Not all great and spectacular, but it really worth to read. Especially knowing that this book is the main book of other Bilangan Fu's series like "Manjali dan Cakrabirawa", "Lalita", and 10 other books that is currently being produced.

So far I've managed to finish half of the book. Bilangan Fu is a type of book that inspires as well as surprises me. I might not say it entertains but it's quite interesting to follow.There are two main charachters in this book. The first is Yuda, a modern-thinking climber who make friends with Parang Jati, a geology student from ITB who's in a mission to learn climbing technique from Yuda.At first, the very different personalities make Yuda feels discomfort with Parang Jati. Selalu suka sama tulisan Mbak Ayu. First time I read her book, I was really surprised with the storyline. Fortunately it was published a long time ago before everybody is turned into a beast, I mean today there are so many people fights and becomes inhuman because of their own believes. But Ayu can helps me to open my mind and rethink that there's a lot problem that are happen because of believes itself. Ya just like today.
